Hi! I’m Samantha (she/her), and I’m a licensed psychotherapist. I specialize in treating eating disorders along with anxiety, depression, OCD, phobic fear and panic attacks, and body image distress. I’ve worked with adults and adolescents with eating disorders at the outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP), and partial hospitalization (PHP) levels of care, and I completed post-graduate training within the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy. My office is a warm, empathetic, and validating space where clients are invited to pursue self-understanding and self-compassion, leading to meaningful healing and change.
My experience has allowed me to build an expansive understanding of what it means to truly support my clients throughout their recovery, combining psychodynamic, behavioral, and internal family systems based theory and practice. I believe in the curative power of a non-judgmental and unconditionally caring space to explore vulnerabilities and turn towards oneself with increasing love and respect. My work with disordered eating and body image distress is also heavily influenced by Health at Every Size principles and an acknowledgement of the societal forces that impact the pursuit of a harmonious relationship with food and self-image.
Prior to my work as a therapist, I spent my adolescence and young adulthood training and working in the performing arts. Many of my clients are current or former artists themselves, and I have a deep understanding of how a career in the arts may intersect with mental health, particularly in the realms of anxiety, body image, and eating disorders.
I am licensed both in New York and Connecticut, allowing me to provide in-person services in NYC and telehealth for clients throughout both states. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Social Work with Honors from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College.
