Hi, I’m Cristina and I’m a licensed psychotherapist. I help people through transitional periods in their lives; from understanding trauma and troubled relationships to struggles of anxiety, perfectionism, self-esteem and body image. I have particular experience working with performers who struggle with a disordered relationship to their bodies, food, and exercise while navigating through a field that can be fixated on appearance.
I see this work as a path to self-discovery where in a non-judgmental and accepting environment we can explore your feelings, thoughts, desires, and past in order to uncover your truest self. Together we will work to create a space of self-love and compassion that allows you to thrive. My approach to therapy is trauma informed and rooted is relational-psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral theories which I adapt to your needs and goals.
I am committed to social justice and the Health at Every Size movement which fuels my work with The Full Bloom Project. I love working with young people and parents to support the development of positive body image and protection against eating disorders in the next generation.
I am a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker and hold a Master of Social Work from New York University, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York University, and a Post-Baccalaureate in Psychology from Columbia University. Additionally, I have training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy from New York Counseling and Guidance Service, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) from The Medical University of South Carolina, and Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT-E) through the Centre for Research on Eating Disorders at Oxford.
