Certified Family-Based Treatment Practitioner

Hi, I’m Amanda and I’m a licensed psychotherapist and certified Family-Based Treatment Practitioner.  I have committed my career to the early detection and intervention of eating disorders in youth and have had the privilege of successfully treating hundreds of children, adolescents, and their families. Before joining the BPTnyc team I served as a therapist at the Renfrew Center in Connecticut and Overlook Hospital’s Eating Disorders Program in New Jersey. At Overlook I worked closely with adolescent medicine specialists in order to provide the most effective Family-Based Treatment at both the partial hospitalization and outpatient levels of care.  I firmly believe in the important roles families play in the early detection and treatment of eating disorders in younger children and adolescents and am passionate about empowering parents to take an active role in their child’s recovery process.

I want parents to know that there is hope. Eating disorders, while dangerous and difficult, are treatable. I am inspired by the stories I hear from former patients — months and years later — who are living proof that a fully recovered life after ED is possible.

In addition to my clinical work I am a member of the Full Bloom Project’s education team. I love speaking to students, parents, and professionals about eating disorder awareness and prevention.

I am a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor and hold a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, and a certification in Family-Based Treatment from the Institute for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders.
